Hot items to sell on eBay
I think the best things to sell on eBay by far, are vintage collectibles, preferably small ones. This is eBay's forte because people love a treasure hunt, a mystery and a bargain. When you sell an antique or vintage collectible on eBay, they getting all three. Collectibles comprise the hottest selling categories on eBay. So why isn't everyone selling collectibles? Because they are harder to GET than mass marketed items. There's a rub with every market, and the rub with collectibles is on the other side of the buy/sell coin, easier to sell, harder to find. A few hot collectibles are good postcards, early paper items, almost anything on Barbershop themes before 1960, almost any vintage collectible that is still in it's original box, lighters, coins, and a plethora of things you can find at a good local auction. So get out to a live auction, pony up a few bucks and take a chance with that tray lot, or box lot you previewed. You'll be hooked! It beats the life out of drop shipping over-saturated items. Let's get back to the rub I was talking about. Now you can find plenty of new items to sell on eBay and you can find wholesalers, even sub-wholesalers to purchase from, but the difficulty here is in selling these items at a good profit. When they do sell, many times that customer is only looking to get that item at it's rock bottom price, so it's likely you will never hear from the person again. Because good collectibles go to happy homes of eager buyers, it's probable that the purchaser will become a repeat customer if they think you'll be selling more of their type of items in the future. While you may not be able to order collectibles from a catalog, local auction houses, flea markets and yard sales are abundant with them. They are a lot of fun to scout for, and the more you look, the more you learn, increasing the odds of getting a major score that you purchased for a pittance. Let the hunt begin!
